Sugar Skull - Halloween Look

Happy Halloween, all!!!

Where the heck have I been?  LOL  I know, I know... it's been a while since I've done a good, real post.  It's the usual: it's been crazy, work was nuts (and now it's over) and we are back in Cali (yay! eep!!) so there have been a LOT of changes over the last 6 months.  Anyway, I'm here now and hopefully there's still somebody out there!

This is a Sugar Skull (also known as "Day of the Dead") look I did for a Halloween party.  I wanted to do a more glamorous-y version of this look so I did a bright red lip instead of the more standard skull like teeth.  I'm not happy with how the forehead turned out but that's ok.  Oh so umm, don't get a facial and a peel a few days before doing any type of face masks.  I did and my face was sloughing and when I started putting the white on, you could see all the dry patches everywhere!  Ugh!!

On to the pics:

Face:
  • Too Faced Primed and Poreless
  • Makeup Forever Flash Palette - I used the white, black, red and green
  • Sugarpill pressed e/s Tako
  • Sugarpill pressed e/s Love+
  • Baby Powder
  • Rhinestones from the craft store
Eyes:
  • Sugarpill pressed e/s Bulletproof
  • Sugarpill pressed e/s Love+
  • Black eyeliner (any one will do)
  • Clinique gel liner in True Black
  • Red Cherry Lashes #112
Lips:
  • MAC Prep + Prime Lip
  • MAC Cherry lip liner (I lined and filled in my lips.)
  • Makeup Forever Flash Palette - I used the red on top of the lip liner
  • Clinique gel liner in True Black - to draw the lines (this is optional)

TIPS for applying masks:
  • ALWAYS use a primer before doing any full face masks!
  • Set your entire face with a powder so that when you do the detail later, the face makeup doesn't move. I used two different ones but its not necessary to do both.
  • Do one eye at a time! The creams will crease fairly quickly so you'll want to work fast to pat a matte eyeshadow on top to set.
  • Keep sharpening your black pencil as it will pick up some of the white face makeup as you are drawing on your face. If not, you will get fluffy lines. I was impatient and didn't do this so my lines aren't perfect.
  • Have fun! It's your creation and what you make it so you know it's going to be gorgeous when you're done!!

Be safe and have fun whatever your plans are.  Happy Halloween!!!
